Welcome to our inaugural Issue

1.1.1 May 2015

We know what you are thinking.  Another Newsletter!   We hope you will enjoy this one.  We are launching two newsletters aimed to get you quickly updated on what’s happening around the state, not just in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.  As always, we appreciate your input either about this newsletter or its sister over at Innovate Montana. A friend of mine, who was formerly a newspaper publisher, once told me that the world could be divided into two kinds of people – those who wanted to get something into the newspaper and those who wanted to keep something out of the newspaper.  Hopefully, you are among the former.   We want your ideas for future articles.  Do you want to let everyone know something?  Tell us about it.

Liz at Photonics WestIt has been a busy year.  Here at GOED, we led marketing missions far and wide.  We completely rebuilt our main websites at business.mt.gov, reinvigorated InnovateMontana.com, and brought Montana Site Selector current.  All this was done to spruce up Montana’s storefront.  Our Choose Montana brand, developed with our marketing team at Spur Studios carries the message of Montana’s advantages for business throughout various media.  The result is a state Addy Award for this small, women-owned, start-up Montana firm.

Much of our efforts have been aimed at the tasks identified in the Main Street Montana Project.  The Marketing Montana held much of our attention including a 35 page spread with our Commerce Department and local economic development organizations in last August’s Delta Sky Magazine.  We supported your efforts to nurture emerging industries and encouraging innovation through participation in start-up weekend events and other entrepreneurship efforts.

We expect the next year to be even more action packed.  Now that our new storefront has been renovated, we feel even more energized to work with our local economic development organizations to promote business and economic development in our state.  We look forward to a newly energized Montana Ambassadors and to our very active Montana Economic Developer’s Association, our valued partners, as we move forward together.  We hope you enjoy our new newsletters.  Please let us know how we might improve it – you know that we listen to you!
