Montana has more potential for energy development from existing and new diversified sources than any other state in the nation. Our world-class energy resources - wind, oil and gas, biofuels, biomass, significant amounts of coal and more - are second to none in the United States. We can provide a good share of the energy resources America needs in a manner that respects and protects the wild places that make Montana so special. Utilizing these energy resources Montana is poised to lead the nation in breaking our addiction to foreign to oil and developing a clean and green energy economy that creates high paying jobs for Montanans.
The Governor's Office of Economic Development works closely with the Energy Promotion and Development Division in the Department of Commerce as well as staff in the Department of Environmental Quality and Department of Natural Resources and Conservation to ensure Montana's energy resources are developed in a manner that maximizes the benefits for Montana's citizens.
